Escape Chickens

Nothing says get a good night sleep like discovering that two chicks (in this case a black asian and a maran) decided to fly and perch atop the fence around the temporary indoor chicken coop. So back in they go. As #motherclucker watches they fly directly at the fence, catch it with their feet about half way up and CLIMB the links until they can perch on the top. Visions of #pilesofchickenpoo all over the house in the morning as well as fear of them invading the baby bantam brooder had this chicken mom scrambling around midnight to get them enclosed. The solution was to jam all the (at this point fairly large) chickens back into the cage, and cover the open area with blankets. A small price to pay (one night of crowding) for the ability to get a few hours of sleep knowing that they would remain enclosed, at least until morning. After all, tomorrow is a new day!

Esther on the other hand, just chooses a destination and flies there. She is the nimble acrobat of the group for sure!
