Welcome to Legendary Acres Hobby Farm! Our farm adventures began in 2020 – with no plans of ever having a farm, it sure has been a fun adventure! It started with the golden retrievers. Just as Covid was shutting down everyday life in Michigan we got a call to rehome and rescue 80+ Mature (some 20 Years Old!) Koi. We quickly created the Life of Koi Pond out of an old lifeboat that we had acquired, since a boat will float, it will also hold water if you turn it into a pond! A random run to Rural King and seeing the cute chirping chicks meant Chickens came next, followed by rescuing Izzy and Franky, two mini potbellied pigs. From there, we kept growing and adopting more animals. Our current list of animals on the farm which doubles as our Legendary Escapes Pool Co. HQ include: Golden Retrievers, Koi Fish, 200+ Chickens, 5 Peacocks, Emu, Turkey, Guineas, Ducks, Blue and Gold Macaw, Cockatiels, Sun Conure, Mini Rex Rabbit, American Chinchilla Rabbits, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Huacaya (wa-kai-a) Alpacas, Mini Potbelly Pigs, Barn Cats, House Cats, and a couple of mini-cows (technically steer). Some of the animals we take in will stay with us forever. For others we may just be a stop on their journey to find their forever home. For however long the are with us, they are a beloved part of our farm family.
We call our Farm HQ the “Steampunk Mansion” which we purchased in 2016, who’s acquisition is a story for another day. It is a beautiful big brick farmhouse built by the Hacker Family in 1883. The property history starts with the Land Grant from the US Govt which was first settled by William Hacker upon emigrating from Germany via tugboat over the Great Lakes through Canada. There’s a bit of a fun family history about William and his first and second wives, including mystery and romance which turned out to be a plot twist in his life! William and his wife had many children including sons who fought and died during the Civil War. His son Frank Hacker married Matilda (Euler) and built the current Hacker Home, our Steampunk Mansion in 1883. Originally called Big Oaks Farm the property encompassed a large amount of acreage and was the first property in Livingston County (we are told) to have electricity which supplied the farm for the dairy milking operations!

Our chickens are called #LuckyCluckers
Here we begin our adventures in raising baby chicks. We’re calling them the “Lucky Cluckers” because that is exactly what they are…they will likely have lots of fun adventures. After all they do call the Steampunk Mansion their home. As a part of the #MansionMenagerie, they are getting a custom #chickencoop built by the fabulous db Designs, can’t wait to show you the chicken palace (which we hope has a strong resemblance to a certain King Friday’s castle from our favorite Mr. Rogers Land of Make Believe!)
