🌲 This Wasn’t a Decision We Wanted to Make and why 20 Mature Pine Trees have to go

There are parts of farm life that feel good.

And then there are the ones that just… have to be done.

Over the next few days, we’ll be removing twenty mature white pine trees here at Legendary Acres.

Not because we want to.

But because we have to.

A few years ago, that ice storm came through and did more damage than we realized at the time.

Branches snapped.
Tops weakened.
Stress that didn’t show up right away.

And now… it’s catching up.

One by one, these trees have started to decline.

Dead limbs.
Unstable tops.
Pieces falling when there’s no wind at all.

And when you have animals underneath them—
that’s not something you can ignore.

These trees have been part of this place for a long time.

They’ve provided shade, shelter, and that quiet backdrop that makes the farm feel like home.

So this isn’t just “tree removal.”

It’s a shift.

We’ve brought in a professional climber to do this safely—
because with trees this size, there’s no other way.

It’s careful work.
Piece by piece.
Making sure nothing comes down where it shouldn’t.

The goal is simple:

👉 Keep the animals safe
👉 Prevent something worse from happening
👉 Do it the right way

It’s not the prettiest part of farm life.

But it’s part of taking responsibility for everything that lives here.

We’ll replant.
We’ll rebuild the canopy over time.
We’ll create new shade and new growth.

But for now, this is one of those moments where you choose safety over sentiment.
